Challenge
Balance the band’s raw, underground tone with the functional demands of vinyl packaging, readable lyrics, merchandise adaptation, and print-ready production
Visions needed a complete visual system for Wild Flowers in the Snow, a physical album release that extended beyond cover artwork into packaging, lyrics, merchandise, and production files. The work had to preserve the raw tone of the band while keeping the release organized, legible, and ready for print across multiple formats.
Project Context
Vinyl Packaging System
The packaging system brought the front cover, back cover, insert, lyric layout, center labels, and production files into one visual language. The design had to stay raw and textural while accounting for trim, folds, panel sequence, legibility, and final print handoff.

Inner Sleeve
Inner Sleeve
The inner sleeve extends the album’s visual tone into the object that physically holds the record. One side uses a lyric excerpt from “Wild Flowers in the Snow” as a bold typographic statement, while the reverse uses live-show photography coordinated for the project.
The sleeve connects the record’s political and emotional tone with a more human image of the band, while still working as a production-ready printed component inside the outer jacket.

Insert / Lyric System
The lyric insert was structured as a dense five-column layout, using a typewriter-style typeface to reference underground zines, printed manifestos, and old magazine text systems. The goal was to hold a large amount of lyric content while keeping the page visually raw, organized, and readable.
Layered image texture and compact typography were balanced against a strict column structure, allowing the insert to feel distressed and handmade without becoming chaotic or difficult to use.

Center Labels
The center labels carried the album identity into the vinyl object itself. The design used the same cold palette, distressed texture, and circular type treatment while keeping side information clear and easy to distinguish during use.
The labels were adjusted through feedback to improve side recognition, track accuracy, and overall consistency with the jacket and sleeve system.
Side 01 and Side 02 center labels using circular typography, icon artwork, and subtle contrast to separate each side of the record.
The project also required building an image library for the release. Because there were no existing band photos that fit the direction of the record, I coordinated a live-show photo shoot and brought in a photographer to capture new material.
The resulting images gave the package a human layer and helped connect the album’s visual system back to the band’s actual performance context. The photography was then edited, cropped, and integrated into the jacket, inner sleeve, lyric insert, and supporting graphics.
Brand Applications
Retail, merchandise, sales, and event materials developed to support the Black Market system.
Photography Direction / Image Sourcing
Live-show photography was coordinated for the project and later integrated into the packaging system.
Merchandise / Supporting Graphics
The album language was extended into merchandise and supporting graphics without simply copying the cover. Type, texture, and image treatment were adapted for apparel and sticker use, keeping the release visually connected across physical formats.

Production Notes
Because the project was built for physical production, the design had to account for trim, folds, panel sequence, image resolution, type size, and final file handoff. Each component needed to work as part of the same visual system while still meeting the practical needs of vinyl packaging, printed inserts, labels, apparel graphics, and sticker production.
Outcome
The final system gave Wild Flowers in the Snow a cohesive physical identity across the record jacket, inner sleeve, lyric insert, center labels, merchandise, stickers, and production files. The work preserved the raw tone of the band while giving the release enough structure, clarity, and consistency to function as a complete printed object.
